What’s Next For Video Games?
Video games have come a long way since the creation of the game Pong. Today’s gamers have demanded more action, realism and difficulty, but what is next? Design graphics and faster processors have propelled today’s video games into a new realm of realism unavailable just a few years ago.
There has been a few major players competing for the top spot in video games. Most have produced major installments and competed head to head with each other. Back in 2006, the major manufactures released the PlayStation 3, the Nintendo Wii, and the XBox 360. Then the race was on!
Even though there are only a few operating platforms, there are an infinite number of games with hundreds being released each year. Some games are proprietary to the system creator, while many support releases for multiple platforms. An example is the Mario games that only work with the Nintendo systems, while variations of the Grand Theft Auto games work with several different systems.
The future is uncertain whether Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony or others will create games that only work on their system or work on a host of systems. Then again, these companies may opt to create games that are a totally new concept and like nothing available now at all.
