PS3 Firmware (v3.21) Update Slated For April 1st

Sony has announced that the PlayStation 3 (PS3) system will roll out its next software update being released on April 1, 2010. The updated software will disable the “Install Other OS” feature available on the PS3 systems prior to the current models, launched in September 2009. This feature gave users the capability to install an operating system, but due to security concerns, Sony Computer Entertainment will remove the functionality using the 3.21 system software update.

Wireless Carriers Pricing Gets Lower

Major wireless carriers seem to have a trend going to require expensive data plans for several of their users while low-cost mobile companies continue to make their prepaid calling plans broader and cheaper.
Cricket, one of the low-cost, pay-as-you-go wireless carriers stated Tuesday that it plans to begin offering the nation’s first $30-per-month unlimited nationwide talk and text plan. Coverage is planned for 125 U.S. cities across all 50 states.

Mozilla Halts Work On Firefox For Windows Mobile

Mozilla has halted development of a mobile version of its Firefox browser for Windows Mobile. Although Mozilla had planned to deliver Fennec (Firefox mobile) to a multitude of platforms, one of its developers reveled today that Mozilla has halted the work being done on the Windows Mobile. Do not expect a Windows Phone 7 Series version either.

Contour Energy Systems Unveils Fluorine-based Battery Technology

CFX Battery, a privately held company announced Monday it has changed its name to Contour Energy Systems. It also disclosed the basics on its fluorine-based battery technology.
Contour Energy is commercializing and licensing portions of its technology, targeting a range of portable power applications in transportation, government and defense, medical, industrial, portable electronics and specialty markets.
Its fluorine-based battery cells and battery packs have been reported to achieve unprecedented levels of performance. The technology will produce higher power and energy densities than lithium-ion systems, extended service life, and uninterrupted operation under extreme temperature conditions.

Ultra-fast Internet Technology Unveild By Cisco

A brand new Internet technology was announced by Cisco on Tuesday. Cisco says the new technology will provide the ultra-fast data speeds that will be necessary to stay ahead of the rapidly growing online video demands of users.
According to the company, the new technology is known as “CRS-3.” It is a network routing system that is capable of offering downloads of up to 322 Terabits per second.

It was announced that shoppers in the US will be able to purchase the Apple iPad Wi-Fi only model on April 3, 2010. The Wi-Fi and 3G models should be available later in April. Pre-orders will be taken online and in-store on March 12.
